Retro XSS Chat Codes

I found an old backup disk the other day circa 2001. Going through the old files there were a couple things that still make me laugh.

Back in my early twenties, I had well..a sense of humor, and that sense of humor drive me to do funny things. I used to hang out in these html based no rules chat rooms that didnt have any javascript filters. (the regular rooms did, just not the no rules rooms, so this was kinda legit!)

This was back before xss was really talked about, we used to use it to play all kinds of pranks on people. This is actually how i learned how to program. This made me want to learn Javascript, and latter VB. My first VB app was an internet app that logged into the chatroom, scraped xss exploits other sent and gave me a canned interface to sling my warez or flood the room.

Im glad i grew up, but I still think thesse are funny.

If you are interested in some retro xss chat room attacks. Here are my old chat codes

The most inventive one at the time I think was the "Private Poster TO ALL". This one would use DHTML to access the affected users individual chat windows. It would then parse out all the private posts made to them or by them, and it would automatically post it to the whole room publically. A little bratty its true, but this one was reserved for real asses.
