This is the build log for a table sized CNC wood router and Plasma cutter I built a couple years back. The original build log was done over at cnczone.com messageboard I converted the pages to pdf for archival. I think the final cost of the build was $2000 US not including the price of the plasma cutter. I have mostly used it in wood router mode anyway at this point because i dont have the garage space for it and it lives in my basement now.

For using traditional CAM software to generate plasma cutter tool paths, I also wrote and release a small app to help smoothing gcode tool paths. ((Screenshot)(Beta quality use at your own risk!)

Final picture of the machine:

Before building this machine, I did a test run with a rockcliff build made from MDF and inexpensive parts. For 500 dollars you can have a decent sized machine.
